Linking your Portfolio123 account to your Broker

How to link your Portfolio123 account to your brokerage account to enable sending orders directly from Portfolio123.

You can rebalance the strategies you are following in Manage and Portfolio123 can then send those orders directly to your broker. But first you have to link your Portfolio123 account to your brokerage account. We currently support Interactive Brokers and Tradier.

Steps to link to your Interactive Brokers account

  1. Go to Manage, Accounts and click New Account and then click Brokerage Account.

  2. Set Broker to 'Interactive Brokers' and give the account a nickname. IMPORTANT: The Base Currency setting has to be the same currency as the base currency in your IB account.

  3. Fill in the other fields then click Create Linked Account then click Confirm.

  4. Enter the account number of your IB account and click Continue. Only IB PRO accounts that begin with "U" are supported.

  5. Follow the steps on the Prepare Documents page and send the documents to IB. Tip: For "I have authorized Interactive to allow ____________ to provide me with trading signals..." - enter Portfolio123 in the space.

  6. Once those steps are complete, check the box next to "I have sent the email to IB" and click Confirm.

IB will now process the link request and send you an email when it is done. This can take up to a week and sometimes takes a day or 2 after they send you the email.

Once the account is linked you will see a message that you need to reconcile accounts if your IB account is holding any stocks or ETFs. This step will sync the Manage Account in P123 with your IB account so that P123 has your current holdings in the IB account.

You will need to click 'New Strategy' in the linked Manage account. This is used to follow a Live Strategy from the Research section. Or you can also use it to follow a Live Book, a Designer Model or a P123 Model.
