API Cost and Monthly Cap
About API credits and Cap
Each API endpoint has a specific cost based on "API credits". The cost is either calculated based on a fixed cost or dynamic cost. Please see the specific API function in this collection for pricing details. The minimum cost when an API endpoint is invoked is 1 API credit.
Fixed Cost
Each API call is the same fixed cost. For example running a screen is 2 API credits. Running a screen backtest is 5 API credits regardless of how long it takes to run.
Dynamic Costs
Certain download operations use a dynamic pricing mechanism based on the number of data points downloaded. Typically the cost is 1 credit per 100K data points retrieved by the endpoint. Please note that certain data points require a data vendor license.
Dataminer Operations
DataMiner operations may use multiple API endpoints so their costs is the sum of all the endpoints used.
API Monthly Cap
You monthly API credit cap depends on your membership (see pricing page). Your remaining credits are displayed on the Dashboard and also on the DataMiner & API tab in Account Settings. Unused credits of your monthly cap do not roll over to the next month. When you reach your monthly cap you can purchase additional credits on demand. Purchased credits never expire and are only used when you reach your monthly cap.
