Accessing European Data

Managing Regions access on your account:

1. After logging into your Portfolio123 suite, steer towards the Account Settings.

2. A tab labeled "Subscriptions" can be found within this domain. Here, you can choose or modify your regional data preference between North America, Europe or both.

Integrated Universe Access

Once subscribed, the European data can be accessed directly via the Universe component. This integration ensures streamlined exploration and analysis of your chosen European markets.

Universes are initiated with a broad geographical scope, such as "All Europe", "Developed Europe", "Emerging Europe", and "Europe 600", offering users an expansive view of potential stocks spanning across multiple countries within the defined region. However, for users who wish to focus their analysis on specific countries within these broader universes, the Country function comes into play. By deploying the Country("cid,cid,cid,...") function in their Rules, users can refine their stock universe to pinpoint equities from chosen countries, using the respective Country IDs (CID).

IBRK Integration

For users leveraging the IBRK interface through the Manage section, it's pertinent to understand that the existing integration doesn't completely encompass European stocks. However, strides are being made in this direction, and full-fledged integration for European stocks is expected in the future. We are committed to enhancing your experience and value your patience.

Considerations When Utilizing European Data

A significant proportion of European companies follow a semiannual reporting schedule. As a result, when analyzing financial metrics and data:

1. Frequency of Reporting: Be cognizant of the fact that most European companies disclose their financials on a semiannual basis, unlike the quarterly reports commonly seen in North America.

2. Data Factors: It's a judicious practice to employ factors that are either Trailing Twelve Months (TTM) or annual. This ensures that the data is representative and current.

3. Understanding Quarterly Factors: When viewing quarterly factors for semiannual reporting companies, note that they reflect the latest semiannual data. For instance, a factor might present data for different offset in a sequence like "300 0 350 0", indicating semiannual data interspersed with 'zero' for the quarters in between.
